after scrubbing himself awkwardly in his mortal sized shower, he gathered up clean attire and hit the streets in the afternoon, looking for the usual suspects. when he found what he wanted, he bought it and walked to the nearest park, enjoying the weather on his day off. by the time he got there, he had already consumed ...

With a sigh Gristlefist dropped into his office chair in his hollow. He had a lot of work to do now that he returned home after his business trip through the USA. Oh, business went well - he made quite a bit of money, but that wasn't even the important part.

He reached around for his filing cabinet and pulled out the top drawer. It groaned, as if the information it contained was the reason for its conscience keeping it awake at night - which would be absurd, if it were a regular filing cabinet, ...

There's a graveyard near here.

Freshly dug grave.

No headstone.

In that grave there is a coffin, chained up.

Inside that coffin there is a jack in the box.

Don't turn the handle.

Just don't.

Trust me.

Don't."

He smiled and laughed, basking in the praise and yelling at his teammates, coach, fans... family. Neil gave in to his father's bear hug, and camera flashes caught the moment.

Other changelings would likely find it odd that a place that induced such remembrances caused so little actual discomfort to Corbin now. Corbin's fear and hatred of his prison had faded long ago, before he'd even left Fairie. In fact most emotions had paled away during his durance. The only poignant pang he still occasionally felt was sadness at the death of his family. Even that was growing cold with age. It ...

In this court we seek to understand fear. To see it in ourselves. To embrace, overcome it, to create more so we can protect against even worse horrors. That was what she had been told once upon a time.

Yet within her fear still ran rampant and nearly uncontrolled. Fear of the joy she might feel, of the sadness she could cause. She was so terribly lonely, she yearned ...

Blearily opening his eyes, Pryderi immediately wished he hadn’t and closed them again, groaning aloud. He lay as still as he could but as sleep melted away his could begin to feel the room spin and had to rush to the bathroom as nausea filled his head and bile bubbled in his mouth.

“Damn alcohol,” he muttered, leaning against the bathroom’s door frame and wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. Looking around his room, he sees a large amount of writing paper strewn about the ...

Mein = Squat fat Gargoyle with Razor sharp wings. Spikes sprouted from his back, arms and legs, every line of his body seems as if sharpened. His eyes seem to take everything in as he looks around. His face is also absent a mouth.

It was a dark night and Kestrel had decided it was time to go looking and see what he might be able to see causing trouble, breaking down the rifle he slipped it into the custom sleeves and slowly put them in his spcial pack. Then he took to ...

Betony Rue entered her room and quickly shut the door behind her. The living quarters were large and inviting. There was even a fireplace, though it was likely going to be some time before there would be call to use it. The dewy light of Spring came more brightly every day and with it came warmth. It streamed through the windows, inviting those it fell upon to take walks in the cool evening, to meet with friends in parks and smell the budding flowers.

Betony Rue Jasons closed the curtains and ...

There is an apartment building in one of the poorer neighborhoods of Sacramento, with dark alleys on either side, and all over these alley walls is graffiti of every kind. One particular tag, if indeed that is what it is, is stranger than the rest. Instead of the gang-related turf war tags, pot leaves, or crude caricatures, this bit of vandalism is a simple door. Painted in white lines, the door consists of a frame, a knob, and a keyhole. If this did not mark it as out of place, then the fact ...

These are the words scribed across the upper chest of Pryderi of the Spring Court within the freehold of Sacramento, scratched into his flesh with the quill of a peacock by his Keeper after his first failed performance. They are formed in Pryderi’s native Welsh tongue.

With Time comes Purity. With Purity comes Pleasure. With Pleasure come I.

They are forever carved into his flesh and cause the Muse to weep as he remembers the pleasure therein.

Bill Slade sat in a recliner in the living room of his small apartment. It was not the prettiest of places to live, but for Bill, it was home. He was watching the evening news, hoping that, if the Gentry were out in force, he might be able to glean it from the stories on the TV. Some days, this made it easier to justify staying inside, but some days it didn't. Bill was finding that fewer and fewer days were meeting the criteria, so he went out more, but it was a quiet day, and he had nothing ...

Nightfall sat on the floor staring at the box. Despite the oddities that had surrounded getting it, there it was. He hadn't opened it since it was handed to him, and he still remembered the instructions it came with.

Picking it up, he stared at it, and set it back down.

Although his voice was still in there, and not with him, he felt an odd peace. He hadn't been able to go back home, but at least now he hadn't left anything behind, either.

He still didn't understand the meaning ...

(Originally posted Mar 4, 2009, thought it was still appropriate, so I'm importing it)

For Bill Slade, the winter had been a long one. As his Court's namesake grew stronger, the further Slade had gone into hiding. He rarely left the apartment building that he managed, going out maybe once or twice a month to pick up more supplies, ranging from food and drink to caulk and tools, all the better for making the repairs his tenants demanded of him. No, Slade did not leave very often, but he didn't ...
