Homesick Empty Homesick

Post by Thistle Sun May 24, 2009 12:27 am

Theo stood outside the door thinking. He didn’t bother listening at the door. The door blocked almost all sound, which given what it was occasionally used for, was unsurprising. But he didn’t want to think on that scene just yet. It made him angery frustrated, annoyed and (despite himself) a little aroused. So he stood thinking about his place within this Consilium.
He had decided upon Awakening, and more so after learning of the threats Awakened faced, that he would stay here. His time had been spent listening and thinking mostly, putting things together that gave him the facts of occult knowledge. He had been learning a lot up to the point he decided to become more involved in mage society. His suspicion was that Dr. Primoria was blocking his progress in someway. She had learned of his memory and in his thoughts she likely made people more guarded in their speech around him. He still kept his ears open and put the pieces in the puzzle but it had been more difficult than before.
Or he was being paranoid again. What he wanted to ponder over was whether or not he should stay here. Was this the place he wanted to be? No, not off hand. He was learning to hate it and he was homesick. The wide streets, huge lawns, different language, even the different electric plugs. All that and more made him want to go home away from all this stuff that felt foreign.
He just felt so out of place, even in how he viewed the world. The culture was steeped in its own self important sense of mystery and intrigue. It frustrated him just to listen to their veiled sayings and trite wisdom. And if he spoke up it always seemed he was shot down on the basis of authority alone. Right and wrong didn’t seem to enter into the minds of most of the higher officials. Was this the culture he wanted to expose himself to? But would it be any different elsewhere? The mage society was old and entrenched. It would likely be no better across the Atlantic, much less across a state line.
Besides, he had chosen to be here, not for his own betterment, but for others. Here he could be an example, here he could help others, and it was here that he could keep people safe from the horrors the supernal could draw to him. And it was that last reason that solidified his resolve to stay.
