I'll Be There For You (ATTN: All Changelings)

The Empty Orchestra is a busy little Japanese restaurant and Karaoke bar that Pryderi enjoys coming to on a regular basis, even taking to the stage when the need suits. It’s just a shame he can’t sing any of his own songs but since they have a wide enough selection, the Muse never finds it difficult to find the right song for the right moment; not hard for a Courtier of Spring.

However, as nice as it was to be surrounded by mortals who desired him, Pryderi felt it was time to either join a motley or if that wasn’t happening, form one of his own, hence the flier at Edna’s place. He felt that something was missing from his life, a social group he could call family, a word he hadn’t used for a long time.

So, taken the stage once again, Pryderi flicked through the machine and smiled when he saw a song he felt appropriate, cheesy but cheerful with a tad of bitterness and stuck in the heads of millions. With mic in hand and not needing to even look at the screen to know the words, Pryderi began to sing while keeping an eye on the door for any signs of fellow changelings.

“Hi folks, me again,” Pryderi said to the bar, feeling the lust roll from some of the patrons. “Here’s a song for those who sometimes need some friends.” Letting the music start and wishing he was playing his guitar himself, Pryderi began to sing.

“So no one told you life was gonna be this way, Your jobs a joke, you're broke, your love life's D.O.A...”

The 80's hair band wannabe wandered in as the man on the stage was prunning his sad and angry song. 'Must have been stood up, or left yeah looking at him she left him....poor sod'. Lucky had told me to come out and enjoy myself...I wanted nothing of it I wanted to stay home......sitting in a booth I go through the little machine and find the song...yeah that will do....once the pretty boy got down a couple others got up but none sounded as good as the first....then my turn

As he got down the Horriable off key singing ended but Coda seemed oblivous to this fact as his face gleemed with the pride of a wonderfull rendition of a ballad he had just sung for them.....

Taking a seat by the bar, Pryderi cringes with every verse at the guy who just got up on stage.

Maybe I could teach him a few things; like keys for a start, he thinks, chuckling at his own joke.

Taking a sip of his cheap bottled lager, Pryderi looks around the bar but still nothing.

Tiffany wandered into the bar, her hair hanging down in various curls as she takes a look around. She didn't often come to bars, public image and everything, but she felt like it might be a good idea tonight. Relaxation was key, after all. She was wearing a rather fanciful dress this evening, something out of her special closet; a red number with a lot of extras.

She settled in at the bar, the grey hue of mist surrounding her almost hiding her until she settled it down into a slight haze at her feet, and ordered a rather fruity looking drink. She grinned at the latest song spinner, and then took her drink as she walked up towards the stage. Tiffany stood on stage, and nodded to the DJ, before she began singing a rendition of Samain Night.

~Narration~

As Tiffany sings, the entire crowd seems to stop whatever it may be doing at the time; the beautiful voice seems so out of place for such a nightclub. The singer doesn't even notice as she immerses herself in the performance, her eyes glimmering as the notes and words spill from her lyrically.

Not at first noticing the woman as she took to the Stage, Pryderi almost dropped his drink as his poise went out the window at the beauty of this new performer. As she sung, his heart fluttered with both love and hate, for such things come natural to the Muse with every second. Standing without removing his gaze, Pryderi moved to stand at a place where the singer could see him oce she left the stage.

Al-Adin enters and skips right past the bar, going straight for the DJ. If what the soverign told him was true...
"Oh Come on! You don't have it?" He asked. "Fine then, keep it quite, and I'll sing it all myself." He grinned broadly, and strode onstage. It was a good song to start with. He shakes his head a little, and then picks up the microphone. He dances along with the song, moving across the stage, vibrantly showing what he sings.

He sings rather well. Not perfectly, but surprisingly well for a guy with no shoes and a haphazard look to him. In fact, in the light, it seems he does transform into the street rat Alladin for brief moments. (does not conceal mein) He walks offstage, and heads to the bar, ordering a pepsi.

Tiffany steps off the stage before Al-Adin steps on, and gives him a wink, and then looks over to the muse who stands beside the stage. Her voice continues to almost roll from her tongue, "Good evening, kind sir."

The haze around her is almost like a fog machine at her feet now, which she waves away with a whisk of her hand. "Looking for a request?"

Raenette Roe had arrived at the Empty Orchestra with a tiny entourage of gormless, fuzz-chinned youths she'd met at the place she pretended to work at. She was dressed in jeans that were a little too tight and sheds two layers of hoody, as she takes a seat, to reveal a tacky low-cut top with little bits of mirror sewn into it, like a cheap mosaic. One of the kids she'd come with asked her what she'd like to drink and found himself ignored as Raenette's eyes dart about the bar, catching a few like her. She mumbles her choice and watches the performers, sipping drinks and clapping politely as she ignores the dorky retinue braying for her acknowledgement and approval. Once she gains enough confidence through combination of alcohol and encouragement, from sycophantic hangers-on, she takes the stage and delivers her rendition of what she feels is the right song for the right moment. It's punctuated by a few tipsy giggles of embarassment, but she carries the tune competently enough.

Sybil sat quietly at one of the tables, smiling to herself. She didn't go out much, but since someone had placed a flier at Edna's, she thought she might go out. Holding her glass of water and swaying to the music, she couldn't help but feel better than she had since she returned from the hedge. Maybe there was something to this companionship thing after all. She tugged the bandanna tighter to her forehead, and glanced around the crowd, wondering if anyone she knew was here.

Bill Slade came down to the Empty Orchestra that night for a good night out. He had seen the flier at Edna's and thought that, while he was not musically talented enough to join the main stage festivities, he could at least have some good atmosphere. Not all Winter courtiers were gloomy gusses after all, and hey, enough skilled Lost were showing up that the music was actually pretty good (though that might be an understatement).

He steps up to the bar, hoping for a drink. Given that it was a Japanese restaurant, he wasn't sure whether or not they carried any American alcohol. All he really wanted was a beer. Do the Japanese have beer? They must! It's only been around for almost 6000 years, he thinks to himself.

Coda sat in the back wondering where he should go. Lucky had told him he wanted action....but he couldn't think of where to go looking for this "Action." He sat back and listened to everyone on the stage. A couple were almost, and he ment almost to be in a nice genours nature. None could top him...he strolled back up to the stage.....he was still feeling morose.

If it was a job to mimic the moves from classic 80's MTV Videos Coda would have nailed it. But no this was to sing...and well he failed.....failed so bad some guy handed him a Twenty to not get back up on the stage....Coda smiles

The mousy woman, wrapped in layers of too-big clothing, finds a seat near-ish to the stage and tries to flag down a server. She watches the performances, impressed by their bravery and talents, and smirking a little at some of the clever uses of lyrics, mentioning faraway places, thorns, etc.

I could never get up there and do that. I'd die of embarrassment. Distillery Rose thought, looking around for familiar faces. She waved a satin-covered hand for a server and started shedding layers, like a chrysalis unwinding to reveal a rather plain moth, blushing blue.

(Towards Tiffany)

"Greetings, miss, my name is Pryderi and I am both jealous and honoured to have heard the bittersweet melody that emanated through your song. Would you care to join me for a drink? If so, I would only keep you a short while for a voice and beauty such as yours should be heard by all." Pryderi cannot help but try to calm the nerves that rushed through his heart, causing fluttering unheard of.

As Pryderi waited for a reply, he glanced around towards the rest of the audience, seeing a few more changelings had entered and taken to the stage. He was both glad and nervous with all the fae in one room, a dual sense of fear and hope that is what he had desired to achieve with this gathering, hence the large table he had booked, just in case.

Billy walks into the empty orchestra trying not to be noticed while listening to others sing, getting up in front of a crowd by himself kinda scared him. Seeing a few other changelings standing around Billy moves closer to them but keeps a distance since he didn't know all of them and was a little nervous.

Billy doesn't even make it through the door, as a bouncer reaches down, picks him up, and shakes his head. "Hey kid, isn't it past your bedtime?"

"Ah, but I'm only here for a fleeting moment...image to think of and all that." She smiles at Pryderi, and her hand reaches out, cupping him by the chin to make certain he gets as good a look as possible. She then lets it go with a flourish and another smile, "I normally only sing for the children..." and begins walking towards the bar, quickly swallowing her fruit-coloured drink.

Billy wants to do nothing more then kick the big man holding him up. "Mommy is... mommy that's what I call her." billy couldn't think of a name and he was afraid that a wrong name would give him away. "Can't I just go in really quickly and see her, I promise I won't do anything bad."

Seeing the small boy with very rat-like features, being ushered at the bar by the doorman, Pryderi feels compelled to help.

Pryderi gave them both the best look he could, trustworthy yet full of flair. "Anyway, he likes the food of native Japan and I'm trying to show him some culture with one of their best inventions; the art of the Karaoke."

"What have I told you before, I'm not Mommy, I'm Pryd. Mommy passed away a long time ago, remember?"

Pryderi looks back up at the bouncer, wiping his eyes as he did.

Pryderi can feel himself getting angry now. Kidnapping was the word that done it, and he told the barman about it.

"Do you have any idea who you're talking to?," he says,growing in stature and bearing, a flicker of something crossing his features. "This child is lost and scarde and I am helping him as would many others with any decency or who knew, I mean truly knew, what it is like to be lost."

Pryderi's voice raises to a level that needs no microphone. "Now, I have no ill intentions with the boy, I just want to help him as I would want help myself, is that alright with you?"

With that, Pryderi leaves the bar, not even looking back.

Billy curses saying things that shouldn't come out of a childs mouth. He mouths Sorry to the other changeling and seeing the adults start getting angry with each other he tries to bolt for the exit. His hand goes under his shirt as he grips his rusty knifes handle hoping he wouldn't have to hurt anyone but refusing to be taken by the cops. He would need to thank this man but his fear made him run.

Tiffany is standing in front of Billy, before he even makes it to the exit. "There you are, darling!" She smiles at the bartender, and scoops Billy up rather nicely, her foggy haze almost obscuring them from the sight of the other changelings. "Now what are you doing in a place like this?"

~Narration~

The bartender doesn't even blink, "Oh, Tiffany! I had no idea he was with you. Just make sure he doesn't show up at the bar again, alright?"

Out in the fresh air and leaning against a wall, Pryderi curses trying to fight back the feelings of disgust, both with himself and the situation he could have easily avoided. That went fucking brilliantly, Pryd he thinks. Now, I'm going to have a rep for picking up little fucking kids. So much for getting a motley together or joining one.

Feeling that same old self-loathing clawing at his chest, Pryderi starts the long walk home.

Tiffany carries Billy outside, and then sets him down, leaning down on her knees as she talks to him. "Now what were you thinking? You could have gotten more than just yourself in trouble, you know."

The very air seems to crackle and spark as the hazy fog surrounding her turns thick, and looks almost like a raincloud about to burst open.

Raenette becomes bored with her pretend colleagues and after an unsuccessful attempt to make one of them get up on stage and sing 'Girls just wanna have fun', she gets up from her seat and vacates the Empty Orchestra for a quick cig. She sees one of the other Fae, whose efforts she'd only caught the ending of. She wonders whether to say anything. He does look a little crestfallen. She makes a big show of patting her pockets and not finding something before yelling out to him.

"Hey, you got a light?"

Coda had had his fill and was ready to leave. They were good at singing but none could ever dream of matching his quality of moves and singing, he stood flipped his hair and walked out leaving a ten spot on the table even though he had not ordered anything off of the menu

Al-Adin refrains from singing again, just basks in the joy and happiness of the customers, before leaving. The soverign would most assuredly like to hear his report.
He couldn't resist bouncing as he left the orchestra, and left, sprinting all the way home.

With most of the singing done (for now, at least), Bill decides that to head home. A few of his tenants had complaints, and he supposed it would be wise of him to attend to their repairs before it got too late. Glancing at his watch, he decides to hurry, as he seems to be cutting it rather close.

Raenette nods, and the hairline cracks in her skin pulse twice with luminous green light.

"Yeah, don't worry, it's just a figure of speech."

With that she pulls out a ligher and sparks up, causing her hair to worm around her ears and the back of her head, working itself into a lazy tangle as she puts it away.

Tiffany just nods her head...and then the broom lifts off. It leads them up through the nearby alleyway, and then into the skies. You're almost hovering, but it feels like sitting on a moving cloud as you fly towards the large Four Seasons Hotel in the distance.
