The Show... Empty The Show...

Post by Guest Mon Apr 27, 2009 1:45 pm

Eva had seen the announcements in the Elysiums, her show was coming, her big chance. She wanted this to be profound, a deep statement to get her Kindred bretheren to think.... It was macabre yes, but also deep and mournful, and mostly thought provoking.

She sits at the computer and starts to type her Show Premium, the small pamphlet that informs the viewers of what they are seeing and trying to understand, and a small one sentence blurb about each painting, a cheat sheet for the artshow as it were. She stares around at the piles of canvas everywhere, her work of the last three months, skeletons and skulls abound. She has to be careful writing this, so as not to break masquerade, but also has to make sure that the Kindred understand what she is trying to get across...

Perhaps a Strictly Kindred artshow should be my next endeavor and I can reveal my Dominate and Auspex pieces that Mrs. Scotts so seemed to like.

What will you leave behind when you are gone?

Of course your earthly belongings will remain... To be scattered about by willfull heirs or lost and forgotten. Those are trivial, gone in a generation or less, sqaundered. But what will you leave behind that will last longer than this, hopefully a long legacy that leaves people talking about you for ages to come, a King, a Warlord... But that too dies... The one thing left that is your legacy on the world is your skeleton... Forever grinning about the life you led, happy in death even if you weren't in life. There are no lies in a skeleton, they tell the most simplified version of your life, broken ribs here, died with a gunshot wound to the head. Simplicity is key to a skeleton, they revel in it. A thousand years from now they will find skeletons and know all they desire from you...

But what if you could not leave a skeleton? What if your legacy ended at the moment of your death and you were as they say, ashes to ashes and dust to dust? What would you do to make sure that you were remembered forever? Would you live differently if you knew that the only thing you could leave behind were tales of your great deeds and masterful cunning?

Remember this as you walk through this study of life's most lasting legacy... What are you leaving behind?
