From the Diary of Fujita Asa Clarke, February 13th, 2009
Tonight is the night of The Party, and I write this knowing this may be my final journal entry, using the gift of Tateme to steady my hand.
As ever his narcissistic demand, Freddrick still demands the Friday the 13th party; and so it shall be, carefully planned and executed. Despite our differences, Twist did me the favor of viewing what I've done, although she could give no insight as to what Freddrick might think.
She did not understand what she saw, though, which gives me confidence.
If Freddrick is merely angered by the unusual theme, I will be satisfied.
For the noblest of reasons, my life has become a lie, and it troubles me. It is my intention to let Ishani know this is her Valentine's Day gift, but it also the truth which I dare not speak: that everything I do, I do for her -- including deceiving the Prince of the city.
