((Immediately following the Friday the 13th Party))

What was her fucking problem?

Why had God sent him here, only to have this creature constantly plague him with fury, then lure him into feelings of compassion, gentleness and weakness, just to tempt him with a desire so base he was not sure he was capable of denying it.

Why tell him one thing and do another.

Was this all a test? Was she sent to him by the Dark Messiah to test his resolve and will?

If so, it was driving him to madness. And he was failing.

Nicolo opened the door to reveal a small, beautiful Asian woman he knew well. She met his gaze confidently, even boldly and walked past him, putting her purse down on the worn, dated chair next to the door. He loved that she could look at him in such an audacious way, knowing what he was about to do to her.

“On the bed, battona.”

She kept her eyes on Nicolo, challenging him, as she sat down on the ratty motel bed, not bothering to pull the sheets down, swung her legs around, and laid on her back.

Nicolo ceremoniously removed his jacket and other clothing, carefully folding each piece so there would be no wrinkles. But like a wolf, he never let his gaze leave his prey, keeping his movement quiet and controlled, his eyes never leaving hers for a moment. He’d left a stack of C-notes on the table next to the bed to compensate her for the damage he was about to inflict. She wouldn’t be conscious when he left, and probably wouldn’t walk out on her own volition. But they’d been through this before. They had an agreement.

When he was ready, he simply walked over to the bed and claimed what was rightfully his. What Longinus had sacrificed for. What God had gifted to all Kindred.

Later, he would have to confess he paid to lay with and feed from a Kine, and serve his penance. For now, it was worth it to have this visual connection with Her. But he had to sort this head-game out of desperately needing to be near Her, with Her and to have Her. And soon.
