Wandering through the gardens

Char had felt terrible after being twisted into ash. She felt all unstable and dizzy. At least the others had been able to save her. Good thing they were an intelligent bunch. However…she was famished and needed to eat.

She was walking in a daze in her favorite place, the gardens. They seemed to remind her of home and it was safe there. It was a great place to think. As she was strolling along, she noticed a man sitting on one of the long green benches looking off into the distance.

Her hunger rose as soon as she laid eyes on the good looking kine. She decided to take a seat next to him.

“Hi, may I ask what is bothering you. You look so worried.” Char said in her most angelic voice.

He looked startled for a second and then was soothed by her tone.

“Oh…I’m just thinking.”

She noticed something in his hand.

“May I ask what that’s is?” As she pointed to his hand.

He tightened his grip and brought it close to his chest.

This was going to be harder than she though. His lips were locked tight. She then decided to dive into his mind. She was always worried about diving into different kine’s heads. Yes, it was useful, but she usually got annoyed by the petty things they worried over.

Hmmm…so he was going to ask his girlfriend to marry him. He was worried she would say no. He loved her with all of his heart. Oh…that WAS a surprise.

Through the mind link, she told him to calm.

Char began to stoke his hair while he closed his eyes.

“Don’t worry.” She said confidently. “She loves you too and she will say yes. Who could say no to so much love and devotion? You will do fine.”

After she said this she leaned in for the kiss and drank.

Oh..how sweet he was indeed.

After drinking, she left him with her reminders of self-assurance and decided to lay in wait after her meal.

A woman suddenly appeared down the road. Char watched from the bushes as the woman met with the man. They began to talk. The man looked much more peaceful and sure of himself after their talk. He got down on his knee and proposed. Soon they were in their arms laughing and smiling. How she loved to watch such emotion. She wondered what it would be like to feel again.

She walked off leaving the two lovers behind.
