Active Spell: Fate1; The Sybil's Sight

Ollie skates into Granite's skate park at about 12pm. He looks around, checking to see if Randall's younger brother is around. He wanted to personally give him his condolences, and his promise that he'd figure this out. If he sees any of his skater friends about, he asks them if they'd seen anything weird going on around the neighborhood.

((It has been determined through PM that Ollie is not by himself, so I'm waiting on other characters to post))

The general word on the street is about a gruesome murder that happened, but oddly enough hasn't been reported in the news. Everyone is talking a tough game, but even to the untrained observer its just a tough guy ruse.

Premsyl is unable to locate Bobby, but he is able to find a group of a few friends that say they found Bobby's brother Randall, and that Bobby probably won't be hanging out here for a long while.

"Yeah, we heard it was pretty nasty. And no one is saying a word. We haven't even seen one fucking cop around."

Doctor Roberts parks his car heads into the park and casts Spirit tongue.

Ollie thanks his friends, and skates off. He looks to see if he can track down any of the area's homeless that might be lounging around in the park today. He figures they're the ones who'd be out at night and might have seen something.

The homeless people hang out more towards the south end of the park. As Ollie approaches, they look at him as just another skater who harasses them, and though they aren't hostile, they may not be the easiest to get to cooperate.

Doc Roberts:
To the south end of the park, Doc notices the 'happier' spirits seem to be more scarce. They are tending towards the north end, as a result, the south end of the park seems a little darker, a little less 'normal'.

Rip:
Rip notices that people are looking at strangers with an arched eyebrow. Word has apparently gotten around that something is amiss at granite park.

Ollie steps off his board, popping it up to his hand with a practiced kick. He grins big, and puts up hand in greeting.

"Hey guys, what's happenin?"

The homeless guy looks up Ollie through a tattered beard and gives a toothy grin.
"Got some change? The new president promised change, and I haven't gotten any yet."

Ollie rummages around in his pocket, coming up with a couple quarters and a crinkled one dollar bill. He holds it out to the homeless guy.

"This is all I got. You guys been noticing anything weird round the neighborhood? Like at night?"

What sort of Spirits are there towards the south of the park?

The homeless man looks at Ollie for a second and nods.
"Yeah, last night in fact. We saw this guy who looked like the sort a vagrant type you don't just go and hang with. Anyway, most of us here kinda huddle together, especially since people seem to like to injure us when we straggle from the herd. But Paul, hes kind of a loner, but still hangs around every once in while...he's missing now, and the cops don't seem to care. "


Towards the south of the park, the main theme on the spirits is a low level fear. Not that it would seem unusual, but here it just seems out of place.

Rip spots Ollie talking to a vagrant, and the general tension of the park seems to weighing in on Rip even in this short amount of time.

(I'm assuming its still mid afternoon)

"Me and some friends of mine are doing a little investigation of our own into what's been going on around here. Fucking cops can't be bothered, right? Where did you see the stranger, and where was the last place you saw your friend Paul?"

Doctor Roberts picks a spirit and asks it
"A creature resembling with sharp claws has been attacking people here can you tell me anything about it?

Most of the spirits seem uncommunicative but one particularly strong spirit of malice takes notice of Doc Roberts question
"I feed on the fear it's created. What benefit would I have by alerting you to what or where he is?"

I am going to stop this thing with or without your help, if you help me I'll help you find a new source of essence that does not involve harming others.

It almost taunts you.
"I can't wait until you find it. It comes from the south, only when the light has faded. Your reaction alone" It snarls at you "will be beautiful"

((Are you guys opposed to skipping ahead to the evening? If so, what are you doing?))

The lights in the skatepark flick on, bathing the area in cold white light and casting shadows in the bowls. Ollie sits at the edge of a bowl, one of the few remaining people in the park. The bums hadn't said much, besides that their friend Paul was missing. He wasn't able to get anything but that. He's just hoping the others were more successful.

The night sets on, the park begins to clear, especially fast it seems, and the chill in the air seems a little cooler than normal. If it seemed a little eerie during the day, it was a Stephen King novel at this point, especially on the southern end of the park.

Rip was shivering a little something was deffenitly not right here but what he could not tell. So he sat in Pearl and called upon the ancient magics to help him see...and then to protect him

He watches them for the better part of the afternoon and evening. The skater kid, running around asking questions... the old guy, mumbling to himself... the surfer, watching them all. When they all come together as day fades, he almost laughs.

Does the trio realize how suspicious they look?

Easily folding Space to see them up close, he can see the shimmer of the Supernal. He'd been itching to bag one or two rabbits since the fiasco at Sac U.

Flicking his cigarette butt into the wind, he settled down on the roof and looked through his scope. Which one? Picking one at random, he fired.

~~Narration~~

Doctor Roberts is suddenly thrown forward into the car, as crimson blossom from his shoulder. In spite of being sprayed by blood, Ollie manages to catch a gleam from a rooftop. Not the gleam of sunlight off a scope; but the oracular gleam as seen by a Sybil.

Rip-Tide sees rapidly fading threads of magic that draw a line from the same rooftop to where Roberts stood.

Ollie grabs at Roberts, tugging him in the direction of cover behind the car. Worrying mainly about himself, though, he gets the car between himself and the rooftop, screaming at the top of his lungs.

"They're fucking shooting at us, man! On top of that building! Who the fuck would be shooting at us!?"
