The Change (Sutter Memorial Hospital) Empty The Change (Sutter Memorial Hospital)

Post by Guest Thu Apr 16, 2009 1:36 pm

Jack had been feeling uneasy for last couple of days - he found myself falling asleep during his break - the constant nightmares and howling during the night kept him from having a restful sleep. Jack could see bags forming around his eyes - he'll probably have to take a short break into to be 100% - he knew that forcing himself wouldn't do anything good.

And yet, he found himself with an abundance of energy, he felt that restless energy within him. He found himself fixing things around the hospital - like straightening a portrait that was slightly tilted or checking each pen to see if they worked. He told himself it was just restlessness from the lack of sleep. Which, he also assumed was the cause of his constant irritation - finding himself annoyed with people and their excuses.

He sighed. Better drink my coffee and get back to work.

"Why don't you take an early day. Some fresh air might help you. Place is rather loud." Whenever a nurse says a place is loud, that means that its queit. Don't want to jinx anything though. Sort of like breaking a leg.

"Yeah, I think that would be best." He agreed, "thank you."

He took the moment to notify the nurse at the desk that he was taking an early leave for personal reasons before heading to his locker to change and get his stuff. Soon, he stepped outside breathing in the air - smelling in sharp scent - before he began toward his car.

You keep walking past the lot. For some reason, you just keep thinking that your transportation is just a little bit ahead. You keep walking for a while before stopping at the river. You look at your reflectio in the water, but its not you. It is a wolf staring back at you. Its teeth bared.

Jack jerks his body away from the river, "Holy Shit!!!..."

Before gingerly looking back at his reflection - he see if it was still a wolf - he see that's normal again. Jack shakes his head again - he must be losing it if he starting his reflection as a wolf. Jack tries to make light of it as he laughs lightly - even going so far as to howl jokingly.

He realized that he had past his vehicle some time back - and shook his head at his confused state.

He then sees the moon reflected in the water. She is half full, pleased with her children, but stern in her stance. He looks up and sees the moon, the moon. It is everything; it is all powerful. And it has chosen him. He feels a howl well up inside him, he feels his throat expand to shape that howl. He struggles to hold it back, struggling hard. And then a soft voice whispers to him. "Why?"

Jack gulp the lump in his throat - feeling goosebumps appear around his arms - he glanced around. His mouth opens but no sound comes out - rather he find himself licking his lips after finding them dry. He crosses his arms as he closes his eyes for the moment to help keep himself ... keep himself what? He wasn't quite sure - but felt something clawing out from him - something that he need to fix. Yet, that feeling continued to swell until his eyes snapped open and as being guided they found themselves staring at the visage of the half-moon again.

Before he got the urge to just run - and run he did.

(anyone else, especially the Sworn, is free to join in, we are at 44th and the river.)

You find yourself running faster than you ever though possible, your four feet carrying you along, but still that beast inside you is destperately trying to get out.
"Let it out, come on." The voice whispers.

Jack continued to run - he covered his ears to the voice - whatever that voice wanted to do or whatever he imaged that the voice wanted to do - he would resist it. All this was just stress and anxiety that is bubbling to the surface due to work and lack of sleep. He felt spasms going throughout his body - causing him to slip and fall on the ground as it affected his legs - but he got right up and continue to run.

He didn't know where he was running - but he hoped that it would burn whatever was affecting him - out of his system. And with each step - he felt his body shuddering as it expand and contract - bones cracking and his heart pumping faster. He could feel fear began spreading throughout him race down the river. Damn.. Damn.. Damn... what the hell... is this feeling? He thought in his confused mind.

You turn down an alley, and the world changes. The color fades away from the alley. The cardboard boxes become dull and grey, the lamplight from the streelamp shifts from gold to a dirty white. But the smells. The smells fill your world, and for a moment, you are struck by the sheer majesty of smelling. You can smell the chinese take out in the dumpster, the rat droppings in the corner, the smell of freshly turned earth from a thrown out garden, and the fresh scent of grass and weeds, as it grows in the cracks of the cement.

"Let me out . Let go." Its getting harder and harder to resist, and you start to wonder yourself "Why am I fighting this?"

Between Taylor's death, all the previous problems, and now the unknown entity that had appeared in his dreams, Matthew was starting to feel overwhelmed. He felt an urge to get away from everything, at least for a few hours, and the farther from his territory the better. So he called in sick from work and took public transportation out to East Lawn Memorial Park. Maybe the change of scenery would help him to sort some things out.

All these scent were beginning to overwhelm Jack - he was fighting - but felt that he should let it all out. Jack knew instinctively that he couldn't allow himself to do that.. he needed to fix whatever was wrong with him - it was fixable.

"All I need is sleep that's all - I'm not fighting there isn't nothing to fight with.." He said trying to deny that voice that kept whisper him - making him wonder if this how insane people were like.

Jack ran down 44th street right toward the East Lawn Park - the voice was being agitated - his heart was racing and he could feel it just lurking just under the surface if he lost any concentration now.. "Fuck you.. I control.. I control.. "

As he ran - and scolding to himself - he passed by the public transportation - actually almost getting hit by the public transportation - but he didn't notice it as he keep running. His breath was becoming heavy as he continue fight for dominance with... the voice... his eyes scan around.. and saw a young man.. before he continue to run..

"
What the hell is happening to me?!" he swore.

Spoiler:

That's no ordinary wolf, and unless I've missed my guess ... Matthew leaves the thought unfinished. He runs toward the nearest grouping of trees, hoping that they will give him enough cover that bystanders don't see him shift to Urhan, and continues running after the wolf. So much for getting away from problems.

And Jack Snaps. The sight, the smell of the other wolf, just triggers something, and the voice sighs.

You feel yourself getting bigger, assuming the Urshul shape, as you feel your throat expanding to fit whatever is coming out. And then you release the howl, the wonderful masterful howl of joy and pleasure and hope.

God help you, why did you ever want to contain it?

There was a rush in the howl - he could feel a great surge throughout his body - his heart pumping, his blood swelling, his mass expanding. He wanted to release it all at once - to burn it up - in that joy of that howl - he is reminded of that howl of his day. The one of that Wolf did.. in that forest maze - he wanted to do it.. it was something he needed to do - he instinctively remember it from his dreams... that expansion of lungs intaking air - pushing of his organ to make room of larger lung - he wanted to bellow that howl that gave him chill in those night ago - to the half moon that was shone in the night sky. And he released it like the Wolf did in his dream - he released it all.

Gwen, fresh from a shower after her pack's latest scuffle, was headed for Sutter Memorial and its access to the Shadow, when she heard a howl she didn't reckognize as belonging to the city. She followed it by scent, and once the two fighters are in sight, she takes a good look around to make sure noone is seeing this. Once she's sure, she hads straight for the two fighters, intent on breaking up this little schmindig. ((Will roll Init at your signal shoulda))

Jack was going on instinct - like when he broke the grapple of the other - his eyes were colored in the gold hues and his scent being overpowering by the environment. Yet, it was gone - he felt lesser than before - as he was deprived of living and freedom. In his human form - he could feel spasm moving around - as the wolf instinct took over.

Spoiler:

When immobilized, the only thing you can do in a grapple is break out of it, you also need to achieve more successes on the breakout attempt than were achieved on the immobilization, so you need 3 successes on your Str+brawl-his strength roll. Also, make sure that the chance die box is checked if you are rolling a chance die.

Matthew's turn, and then everyone else goes in order, mateo after Jack.

Gwen stops dead in her tracks once she gets a better look at the two fighters. At the one word one of them growls, she gapes. "Jesus." Without turning to Mateo, she rushes forward, loudly saying "Hold him down!" She stays in Hishu, to avoid drawing attention, and tries to grab one of the Nusuzul's limbs. She intends to carry him off somewhere they can do this quietly. Or at least, quietly-er. ((Can't find rules for multiple grapplers, and I sure as heck ain't clawing a newly-Changed to ribbons))

01-01-2008 10:00
Mateo rolls 7 to Str+Brawl (10 Again)
4,9,5,1,10,10,6,8,7
4 successes
Since gwen has a positive dice pool, Its easily assumed she grabs the Jack (as he doesn't apply his defence once immobilized). Jack now needs 5 successes to break out. If he doesn't suceed on the next roll, then i'll narrate the action. (go gauru for max-strength bonus)
