No More Fire Empty No More Fire

Eva flees from the grindhouse as fast as her legs will take her. Shaking and crying tears of blood that pour down her face she runs home. Away from all the other kindred, away from the wide open spaces, and mostly, away from the fire.

She shakes terribly, hardly able to get in the door, stumbling over unused canvas.

The slaughter the agony the terror. That fire threatening to consume her very soul, making it cringe backwards inside her like a whipped horse, escape, her beast climbing the walls to get away, away away away. The beast always so strong and dependable, whimpering and crying out for help, for someone to save it, to get it away from those all consuming flickering tongues of fiery death. The sight of that poor Kindred, the bright flash as his hair was consumed first, the sounds of popping spitting flesh like a pig on a spit following next. His screams... Oh the screams, like his beast was climbing out of his throat abandoning his carrier for greener pastures. The screams stopped soon, when his blood and brain began to boil from the heat. Most of his skin was gone then, revealing the grisly smile of death that all skulls have, reassuring those left behind that the place they are going is pleasant. The heat only got more intense, tightening tendon and muscle and making his body do a hideous jerky jig, and then it was too much, snapping and popping as once virile tendon gave way. She closed her eyes then, the heat vaporizing the marrow of his bones, tiny explosions as every one of 200 bones on his body popped to release the pressure of the judgement. His skull the last, one thunderous boom, sending skittering pieces of macabre shrapnel across the floor. Bits of ash raining down on those close enough, dessicated bits of body....That lingering smell of death that one hopes to never become familiar with... And slowly, like all fires that burn hot...It is gone... Faster than one could thing. A piteous pile of sludge on the floor all that remains of that breathing spark in the dark fabric of the universe.

Eva doesn't care what he did...She wasn't there to see it or understand... She grieves for the loss of anyone to die so horribly. She feels her heart harden, her mind protecting her from the atrocity by rationalizing it, making it okay...making it a social norm... This how all master minds and evil geniuses lose their souls in the process of their greatness.

After two hours of sitting huddled in a corner, rocking herself in the dark she pulls out a canvas... She will call it, Treason...
