Home sweet boardinghouse? Empty Home sweet boardinghouse?

The sun is just going down as Navaja opens the door to Edna's Boardinghouse. It's like a dream she's afraid of waking from. The house feels much safer then the streets outside, and more comfortable then the opulent formality of the Four Seasons. She only takes a second to look around as she holds the door for John, then heads straight to the desk, looking for someone to speak with about a room.

John followed her inside. The place seemed alot more inviting than the Four Seasons, but he doubt he would be able to get a room here. Should have been more carefull with the cash I had before. He shook his head and waited at the desk for someone to show up.

The boarding house is dark at the moment, although you saw lights in the back and upstairs.

Navaja walks up the the front desk and taps the wood a few times with her knuckles. What if they're closed for the night? she wonders. I'm just tired enough to fall asleep on this counter and wait for someone to show up in the morning...

John shrugged. "I doubt it. I would guess that anyone thats already paying to stay here would be around doing something." He took a look around, getting the feeling that something was off. "Wanna look around? Sure will find Edna alot faster that way. Unless she's asleep."

You hear a piercing scream from the back room, and a sudden wave of fear washes over you both.

Navaja fights the urge to flee. She looks at John, then looks around for doorways to the back of the building. She rushes through whichever one would seem to lead closer to the scream "Hello?" She calls?

John follwed Navaja down the halls. Right now he was really kicking himself for losing his knife in the Hedge. He listened carefully for anymore screams or sudden sounds. Other than the Darkling infront of him.

As the two scared changelings rush through the boardinghouse, the lights cut out for a short moment as soon as they reach the kitchen in the back of the building. Shadows seem to sprout from the walls and windows as the scent of death catches you off guard. Another scream, from outside the house, pierces the night...and then it hits you.

A shrivelled changeling lays near the stove; her eyes open in a scene of perpetual fear, a small pool of blood surrounding her. Her skin is shrunken and gray. Everywhere you look, all you can see is red and brown coating the walls and the appliances. The back door isn't just gone...it's shredded.

"Oh my.." Navaja stares for a moment. When she comes to her senses she heads to the body and checks for signs of life. She glances at the door way, at towards the screams outside.

"Holy....Shit." John managed to say as his looked over the scene before him. When he managed to snap out of shock, and took a deep breath. He went to the doorway to find out what was going on outside, checking along the way to see if there was anything he could use to defend himself.

The yard out back isn't a much prettier scene...body parts lay strewn across the lawn and the grass is no longer green. Blood seeps into the ground, and the flood lights only emphasize the disgust caused by this scene of destruction.

Navaja leaves the dead body in peace. She cautiously approaches the door, "John? Is it gone?" She reaches out and touches the pieces of the door, wondering fearfully what did this.

John covered his mouth and nose with his scarf, trying to keep the smell of blood out of his nostrils. He peered into the darkness beyond the floodlights. There was Something up ahead, but at this distance and that far away from the lights, he couldn't make it out other than moving shadows. He cautiously walked backwards and through the shattered doorway. "Whatever it is, its out there."

We should run, she thinks. We should get the hell away from this place. That thing will kill us. And if it doesn't, police will come, and we'll be in deep shit.

She doesn't run, though. Instead she turns back inside, looking around for signs of just what that thing was. Bloody footprints, claw marks, the smell of gun smoke, anything to categorize this horror, to make it logical. "Do you think the whole boarding house is like this?"

"I'm not sure..." John said as he started staring at the bloodshed around him. He had never seen anything like this in his life. "I should take a look around, find out if theres anyone still alive n this place. Go see if you can find a working the phone. We are going to need to call the courts about this."

Navaja slowly runs her fingers along a set of claw marks in the refrigerator door. "Yeah. The courts." She glances around the kitchen, looking for a phone amid the blood and gore. She sees a wall phone dangling by it's cord, covered in blood. She picks up the receiver, hangs it up, and checks the dial tone.

John nodded to Navaja before leaving the kitchen and making his way upstairs. If there were any survivors, they needed to get out of here. If there are any...

The stairs leading up to the two floors of rooms are soaked in blood. There's a small river sliding down the stairwell.

Dear god! What kind of creature could do something like this? John though as he he tried to keep some distance away from the blood as he asended the staircase. He wrapped the scarf around his face tighter, keeping his panicked breath minimal.

"Hello?" He called, hoping that the thing that did this did not lurk in the darkness beyond.

Navaja sets down the phone. She slowly walks over to the door John left through, and calls out, "John? We don't even know who to ask for at court. Maybe we should leave now? We could find some cheap hotel, and call the cops from a payphone." She doesn't sound sure of this course of action, but she doesn't want to run in to the cops, or piss off the court.

John moved slowly down the stairs, still making an effort to avoid the blood. He didn't want to go deeper into the place, he could only guess what he would encounter. He walks back to the doorway, pulling down his scarf. "I don't think we have much choice. We should leave then see if we can find someone from the courts ASAP. I don't know about the police force though, it could bring everyone alot of unwanted attention." Personally he would be gald that somone else was looking into this, but they had to keep themselves unnoticed and police would cause trouble.

Navaja lets out a sigh, to calm herself. "Okay. Back to the four seasons, then find a hotel more in our price range?" She leaves the kitchen and walks towards the front room, hoping to meet John there. She looks around sadly. She would have liked this place, would have liked to make a home here. Now, even if it was fixed up, she's not sure she could feel safe.

John gave her a nod and followed her out. He ave the place on last lookover along the way. This place wasn't going to be the same, even if they cleaned it up, fixed everything and removed the remains. It would have been someones home, but now it was just a grim reminder of horror and bloodshed.
