Investigating the Boardinghouse
Mrs. Scotts arrives with Jayant at the boardinghouse. She looks for Stanton to show himself.

Jayant Nagaraj observes the shadows very closely, looking for anything untoward, his eyes becoming nothing more than black voids.

~Narration~
The boarding house is a very large Victorian style manor, with police tape and a couple of blockades down across the sidewalk to keep people out. It's set out of the road, away from other houses, but the entire block seems dark and foreboding, almost as if the light was sucked out of it.

Jason arrives, fashionably late as usual.
Approaching the pair, he speaks. "I don't know how all of you got this connected, I had to spend a little time finding out about this place first."

Mrs. Scotts answers him curtly, his tardiness has been noted. "The sense of wanton destruction and massive power reminded me of how I found Icarus' apartment. At worst, we've excluded this as being his or their doing. Right now we need to clear the way in, and get any cops out of the way."

"One moment, Mrs Scotts..." Jayant nods towards Mr Stanton, his Beast hissing deep in his soul at this new Kindred, smiling. The Shadow wonders around the boardinghouse, scouting for any signs of mortal law enforcement inside.

Jason follows the stranger, his beast growling softly about not expecting him. He sniffed the air as he went, expecting that any blood was long dry and thus, not giving off a scent, but it was worth a shot.

The front door is standing wide open, and there's not really much in the way of sounds or smells coming from the front hall. The front desk is a little scattered from the investigation, but otherwise this area seems normal. It isn't until you walk a little further in that the scent hits all of you...the scent of death.

Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
Glancing back over his shoulder, his eyes two small globes of nothingness, Jayant holds up his hand and runs it across his own throat before holding his palm towards them in a gesture to wait. He seems to merge with the shadows that hug the walls and disappear to investigate the stench, his natural Gurkha training taking over.

Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
Navaja walks across the street from the boarding house, her eyes fixed on it, remembering what they found that night and half expecting to see a monster of some sort come roaring out of the house. She stops as soon as she sees people in the front door she ducks behind a car and signals to John to do the same.
She peeks up and looks through the car windows, hoping that the people going inside won't notice the two watchers, and that she can see enough to figure out what to tell the courts.

Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
John followed Navaja closely, scarf wrapped around his neck to protect himself from the cold night. It still felt like only hours ago when they saw the bloody walls of the boardinghouse. As soon as he spotted the people up front, he moved quickly behind a car next to her, crouched and ready for anything.
"Didn't expect anyone to take a keen interest in the place so fast." He muttered under his breath as he peeked from the edge of the car. He kept himself ready to run incase they were spotted.

((Adding to fix that up))
John looked at the enternce to the boardinghouse a few more seconds before shaking his head. "Jumping at shadows...." He muttered under his breath. He still needed to have a look inside, even if they haven't finished cleaning the place up. "C'mon, we should check inside just to be sure."

"If I am, I can't think of a better place for it." Navaja shakes her head and stands up, brushing the dirt off her black jeans. "And if I'm not, we'll probably end up smeared on the walls by whatever did this whole thing. But I get you. Maybe we'll see something we missed before, that lets up know what this thing was. I want to know, too."

Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
"So long as we don't touch anything, it won't be concidered tampering with evidence." John said as he he slowly rose from his spot from behind the car and carfully apporached the Boardinghouse. He signaled Navaja to follow.

Jayant sneaks his way into the back of the boarding house, and comes across the scene described here. It's now dried, and the large majority of corpses and body parts have been removed, although bits and pieces are still lingering.
In the meantime, Navaja and Em slowly make their way into the front of the house, under the tape, and through the door. In the dark, they run right into Jason and Mrs. Scotts.

Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
No seeming or kith. Civilians as far as I can tell. John though as he stepped forward and put on his best cop face he could manage. "Detective Blackwaters. Sacramento PD. This is officer Garcia. We spotted you entering this crimescene and are requesting you to leave the premisis immediently Ma'am." Granted, John and Navaja shouldn't be here either and impersonating an office was a crime in itself. But he wasn't going to stand around while civilaians screw with a crime scene. Especially one that was of importance to the freehold.

"This is our night off Ma'am. Even we take a few moments to live life like civilans. If you would kindly leave now, I won't call you in and the city won't press charges against you. Assuming of course you haven't been tampering with crime scene of course." John said steadly, meeting the womans gaze. He tilted his neck slightly, accidentlly making a very minor creak which barely could be heard through normal ears.

Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
"If you are here on your night off, well, for one thing you'd still have badges, and second you wouldn't have any authority to order around the owner. I thought they taught this stuff in the Police Academy?" Jason said with irritation in his voice.
As far as he could tell, they were just mortals, so if worse came to worse, he could take them. With the response about it being their day off, he had no belief that they were actually cops, so he felt no reason to show them any respect.

"We wouldn't be here if you were doing your job. Now you can either explain to my private detective here what you've found, or you can leave. I won't have you impeding the investigation of the murder on my property" This was getting tricky. Very tricky.

Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
Jayant couldn't help but smile at the interaction but the night wasn't getting any younger and neither was this mystery. However, patience is a virtue and so he waited to see how Mrs. Scotts would handle this before he opened his bag of tricks.

Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
Navaja was not completely sure about this, but she was under the impression that this place was pretty seriously connected with the Lost, even if there were mortals who stayed here. Edna was a Lost, from what she knew, and it seemed unlikely that there was some sort of mortal silent partner. This old lady was bluffing. She hoped.
"John, I didn't see any living owners on the paper work. What I read said that there were no heirs. I'm sure it was a clerical mistake, ma'am, but until that gets straightened out, you and your private investigator will have to leave. I'm sure it will be a short stop down at the station and you can come back up here with an escort." She smiles apologetically.

Mrs. Scotts finally can't take this nonsense any more.
"Look, you aren't police, and I'm not the owner. Simple as that. Now, you can either let us investigate, or you can go away."

Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
Screw it. John thought bitterly as he crossed his arms, face warping into a scowl. This was getting them nowhere. "That depends on why your here. We cannot let random strangers poke their noses in other peoples bussness." He said rather harshly.
Darksider42
Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
"The same could be said for you, random strangers who barged in off the street. Especially since this is our business until we determine otherwise. People are dead. We don't want more people dead. If you have a problem with that then there are very many more problems we have to deal with." Mrs. Scott's eyes are steel, and her tone is dispationate and heartless. She is also pumping blood into herself, increasing her dexterity.

Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
Correction, Scotts isn't boosting attributes, (it lasts only an action, not the scene, got confused from OWoD)

Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
Navaja smiles and shakes her head. No one is going to tell anyone why they're here. Another impasse. "Nobody wants more dead people. And there's no point in getting all high and mighty about us being random strangers. You're just as random." She looks over the motley group. "More random." She turns to John. "Maybe we should just go. We know who's here, and if anything funny happenes, this doesn't look like a difficult group to track down."
Em
Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
John looks at the group before them for a few more sceonds before nodding. "I'm sure we can remember a group like this." He said with a shrug, looking a little more relaxed. Though, thats only looks. "We will still be keeping an eye on this place. Do not tamper with the scene Ma'am." He said before lifting up some of the crime scene tape for Navaja to slip past.
Darksider42
Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
Navaja ducks under the tape and walks out to the front lawn, glad that they're getting out of this house, again. She doesn't like that random people are interested in this site, though she's almost more worried about them then what they might be up to. If some beast from the hedge did this, and there guys end up over there... they're really biting off more then they can chew.
Em
Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
John followed Navaja close behind. He didn't like this at all. If they were changelings, he could understand the interest. But there were people. Sure, they didn't seem entirely normal, but people none the less. He just hoped they relised they were in way over their heads before some random random hob or the Gentry get their hands on them.
"That went well." He muttered as shoved his hands into his coat. He made sure they were out of earshot before he continued. "We inform the courts? Or do we stick around and make sure they don't do something stupid?"

Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
Navaja sighs "There are two of us, we could do both. But I don't like the idea of either of us being here alone. If I had to guess, I'd say they won't stick around much longer, especially if we're sitting around out here. If they take too long, or something goes funny, we'll go call the courts." She pauses, then smiles. "But either way one of us has got to get a damn cell phone."
Em
Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
"Agreed. We'll keep our distance and try to make sure they get their little investigation is done as soon as possible." He said as his takes another look at the boarding house. "Did they seem a little off to you?"

Re: Investigating the Boardinghouse
She laughs, and pretends to shrug, "What, an old lady, an Indian, and some guy, who investigate grizzly murder scenes in their spare time? How could they be weird?" Nodding her head, she turns off the sarcasm. "Yes. Assuming that we aren't in some bad 80's cop sitcom, which we can't rule out at this point, they are weird beyond belief."
Em
